Allianz Australia to become Australian Olympic Committee Partner

4 May 2019

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has announced Allianz Australia as a partner of the Australian Olympic Team, from now through 2028. The announcement was made by AOC President John Coates AC at the AOC Annual General Meeting hosted today in Sydney.

The partnership between the AOC and Allianz Australia will see Allianz support the Olympic movement in Australia in a range of ways, including plans to provide insurance to the AOC, the Australian Olympic Teams, and athletes, as they continue preparing for Tokyo 2020 and beyond.

This follows the announcement in September 2018 in which Allianz was introduced as the Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Insurance Partner, and will become the latest addition to the Worldwide Olympic Partner programme (the TOP programme), from 2021.

Allianz has a long history of supporting sport in Australia and across the globe, including a partnership with Paralympics Australia since 2011. This new partnership between Allianz Australia and the AOC will provide greater connection with athletes, and people around the world, in order to promote the Olympic values and the power of sport.

AOC President John Coates said, “I am delighted to welcome Allianz to the Australian Olympic family as a supporter of the Australian Olympic Team. Our job is to provide Australian athletes with the opportunity to do their very best at the Olympic Games and to represent their country with pride. Without the generous support from Allianz, the AOC would not be in a position to realise the Olympic dreams of our athletes.”

Adding to this, Allianz Australia Managing Director Richard Feledy said, “These athletes are great role models for all Australians and we are proud to invest in partnerships that reflect inclusivity and spark inspiration.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for Allianz Australia to join a global and local community of athletes and people who share our passion for sport and the social, physical and mental benefits it can bring to humanity.”

“We are proud to support the Olympic movement in Australia over the next 9 years. It is a demanding process for any team preparing for the Olympic Games and we are privileged to play a role in helping them get there.”

Allianz Australia will work with the AOC to provide innovative and integrated insurance solutions, in alignment with the Olympic Movement, for the athletes and teams. This will include existing products, such as fleet and property & casualty insurance, as well as insurance solutions for future products and services driven by technological changes.

The partnership period with the AOC will cover the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the Olympic Winter Games 2026 and the Olympic Games LA 2028.
