Social impact

We believe in fostering an inclusive society

We’re committed to contributing to an inclusive society. One in which all people – no matter their culture, background or ability – feel valued and have the opportunity to use their unique skills to reach their full potential.

We believe empowering people to participate equitably at work and in the community helps promote fairness in society. When conditions that allow people to succeed exist, the economy and businesses thrive too.

At Allianz, we champion accessibility via an organisation-wide program of work. Examples of our commitment include:

  • Proud partner of the International Paralympic Committee since 2006, and became its first International Partner in 2011, which included Australia
  • Member of the Australian Network on Disability for advice on how best to attract, develop and support employees with a disability

We view gender equality as a business imperative. That’s why we’ve established goals to meet and maintain gender equity across our organisation. In Q4 2023, 45.6% of senior leadership roles were held by women.

Over the last five years, we’ve made significant progress in reducing our organisation-wide gender pay gap, which is significantly lower than industry average. Read the Allianz Gender Pay Gap Explained Report (PDF, 649 KB) for more information.

Our Managing Director, Richard Feledy, is a proud member of the Champions of Change Coalition for the Insurance Industry We also proudly support our employee network group, Network for Equity and Opportunity (NEO), to help drive our gender equity agenda, which encourages both men and women to advocate for gender equality in the workplace and beyond.

When it comes to LGBTQ+ recognition, we believe that creating a safe and welcoming environment for people to feel they belong is essential for our business.

Since 2022, we have been awarded a Silver Accreditation from Pride in Diversity up from Bronze status in 2020 and 2021. Our aim is to continue to improve this outcome by focusing on the inclusion of our LGBTQ+ identifying colleagues at each point during their career with us.

Our Pride Employee Network Group provides support and awareness raising for our LGBTQ+ identifying employees and their allies.

At Allianz, diversity, inclusion, respect and ensuring a sense of belonging are all at the core of our culture. We're committed to the community and tackling social issues, which is why we're delighted to have launched our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Our RAP is our pledge to work together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations and communities to help build prosperity and security for what's ahead. It's also our opportunity to listen and learn from the traditional custodians of the lands on which we live and work, to make a sustainable contribution towards building reconciliation across our country.

As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan, in 2022 we commissioned new research into First Nations small businesses and their attitudes towards, and understanding of, business insurance. The Indigenous Business Insurance Research Report (PDF, 5.3 MB), led by Indigenous engagement consultancy Winangali, looks at the insurance needs of First Nations small businesses. The research also aims to understand how insurers can better support First Nations small business owners in the future.

To help First Nations home-based small business owners understand the different types of insurance covers available for their business, Allianz has created the Home-Based Business Insurance Toolkit (PDF, 1.9 MB) in collaboration with First Nations communications consultancy Iscariot Media.

We’re committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all our customers. That’s why we have a clear accessibility framework that will see us become a more inclusive and accessible organisation over the next five years.

Helping to build personal health and resilience is central to how we work with our customers, employees and the broader community. By supporting their mental health and wellbeing, we help them move beyond survival – we help them flourish.

Whether it’s standing side-by-side with the community by investing in Allianz Stadium, preparing the world for a better tomorrow through sport as the Worldwide Insurance Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement or helping refugees integrate into the community with Settlement Services International, we believe in partnerships that promote wellbeing and bring people together for a more inclusive society.
Allianz acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work across Australia. We pay our respect to First Nations Elders past and present.
