Allianz Australia announces key senior management appointments

25 March 2025

Allianz Australia is pleased to announce two new leaders joining its Senior Management Team, effective 1 April.

Julie Mitchell has been appointed as the new Chief General Manager Commercial, replacing Phuong Ly who will be moving to the role of Commercial Managing Director at Allianz Commercial UK. Julie comes to the Commercial team having spent 25 years in Allianz’s Personal Injury Division, including the last six years as Chief General Manager, Personal Injury. In this role, and throughout her career-to-date, Julie has focused on helping small and large Australian businesses protect their most valuable assets. Julie's strong industry relationships and strategic mindset position her well to lead the Commercial team into the future. Mark Pittman, GM Government Services, will serve as Acting Chief General Manager Personal Injury during the search for a permanent replacement in this vital role.

In response to her new role, Julie said “Throughout my career, it has been a privilege to work closely with small and large Australian businesses, helping them to protect their most valuable assets. I am excited to expand upon this, in my new role leading the Allianz Australia Commercial team. I look forward to collaborating with insurance brokers and continuing to support Australian businesses.”

In addition, Anna Stavropoulos, formerly GM People Advisory, Talent and Learning, has been appointed as the new Chief People and Culture Officer, replacing Vicky Drakousis who has been appointed the Global Chief People and Culture Officer for AZ Tech, based in Munich. Anna’s HR leadership experience across the financial services industry spans over 20 years and over the past five years since joining Allianz, she has spearheaded innovative strategies in employee wellbeing, talent acquisition, and learning and development. Anna is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and belonging, and her engaging and inclusive leadership style is widely recognized. Anna commented on her new role “I have always been passionate about creating an environment where every team member feels valued, supported, and inspired to contribute their best. In this new role I am excited to continue to build a culture of inclusivity, innovation, and customer obsession that drives our collective success and strengthens our commitment to excellence."

"We are thrilled to announce these appointments, which reflect the exceptional talent within Allianz Australia," commented Richard Feledy, Managing Director, Allianz Australia.

"Julie and Anna bring a wealth of experience and leadership to their new roles, and we are confident they will continue to propel Allianz Australia forward."
