For example, if you accidentally spill wine on your carpets or couches, or knock the coffee table over.

If you have Allianz Home Insurance and have selected optional Accidental Damage Cover, we’ll cover:

  • Your building against accidental damage or loss – if you have Building cover
  • Your contents against accidental damage or loss – if you have Contents cover

If you’ve insured your contents, we’ll cover them:

You can select the Accidental Damage option when you get a quote for Allianz Building or Contents Insurance.
Do you already hold a Home and Contents, or Building, or Contents Insurance policy with us? If you would like to add the Accidental Damage option, give us a call on 131 000.
Accidental Damage is an optional cover that you can add to your Allianz Building  or Contents Insurance. It can give you coverage against unexpected situations that are caused unintentionally. For example, if you’ve accidentally spilled coffee over your couch or burned your kitchen cabinets by accident while cooking dinner. For these sorts of situations, Accidental Damage cover can help with the cost of repairs or replacements. While standard home insurance policies provide cover for specific insured events, they may not cover you against unforeseen mishaps.

You may take every precaution to look after your home and belongings, but sometimes things don't go according to plan. You would use Accidental Damage cover to make a claim when you’ve damaged your home or contents due to accidental unexpected mishaps that were caused unintentionally. However, you must have either Building or Contents Insurance, or both, to make a claim.

For example, if you’re moving furniture and damage your wall, you can use Accidental Damage if you have Allianz Home Building cover. If you’ve spilled a drink that stains your carpet, you can use Accidental Damage if you have Allianz Home Contents cover.

Here are some more examples of mishaps that optional Accidental Damage covers.

If you have Building cover and:

  • Your kids draw all over your walls

If you have Contents cover and:

  • You spill red wine on your new white carpet or lounge

We’ll extend cover for your contents anywhere in Australia for up to 90 continuous days in one period of insurance.

Plus, Accidental Damage cover automatically includes Motor Burnout cover. So, if your freezer breaks down due to electrical current damage, and it’s under ten years old, you’re covered.

By selecting this option, you can cover accidental damage caused by sudden, unforeseen and unintended events, not just the specified insured events.  If you accidentally damage something at home, this cover can help with the costs to fix or replace it. To help you decide whether you need Accidental Damage cover, see the relevant PDS.

If you’ve got Contents cover under Allianz Home Insurance and you’ve selected optional Accidental Damage , we’ll cover your contents for accidental damage or loss:

  • At your insured address
  • Anywhere in Australia for up to 90 continuous days in any one period of insurance

Note: General contents may have set limits. To find out more, see the relevant PDS.

Accidental Damage is optional cover, so it isn’t automatically included. You can select it when you get a quote for Allianz Home Building or Home Contents Insurance. While our Building and Contents Insurance may cover certain insured events, Accidental Damage covers damage caused by sudden, unforeseen and unintended events, not just the specified insured events.

If you already have Allianz Home Insurance and want to add Accidental Damage to your policy, give us a call on 131 000.
